Eligibility / Qualification
Anthropologist (Cultural Anthropology Division): Master’s degree in Anthropology of a recognized University with more than fifty percent papers in Cultural Anthropology in final year examination + Three years research experience in Anthropology. Anthropologist (Physical Anthropology Division): Master’s degree in Anthropology of a recognized University with more than fifty percent papers in Physical Anthropology or Biological Anthropology in final year examination + Three years research experience in Anthropology. Age Limit: Maximum 35 years (UR) and 38 years (OBC) as on closing date. Age relaxation is admissible for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Central Government employees as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process
The UPSC Anthropologist Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of shortlisting (if applications are large) followed by Personal Interview. Shortlisting: Commission may adopt shortlisting criteria based on higher qualifications, experience, desirable qualifications or by holding a Recruitment Test (if required). Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Minimum qualifying marks in interview: UR-50, OBC-45, SC/ST/PwBD-40 (out of 100). Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the interview. Appointment orders will be issued by the Government.
