Eligibility / Qualification
Minimum Qualification for UTET-I (Primary Level, Classes I-V) A candidate must meet one of the following: Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC), passed or currently in training/enrolled. Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks AND a 2-year D.El.Ed/BTC obtained as per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002, passed or currently in training/enrolled. Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), passed or currently in training/enrolled. Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), passed or currently in training/enrolled. Graduation (or equivalent) AND a 2-year D.El.Ed/BTC, passed or in the final year of training/enrolled. Shiksha Mitras working on honorarium in government primary schools who have completed the 2-year D.El.Ed training from IGNOU with state government permission. In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher/Headmaster (Primary) or Assistant Teacher/Headmaster (Upper Primary) in any UDISE-coded school teaching Classes 1-5. Minimum Qualification for UTET-II (Upper Primary Level, Classes VI-VIII) A candidate must meet one of the following: Graduation (or equivalent) AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (BTC/D.El.Ed), passed. Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed/L.T./Shiksha Shastri, institutional mode only), passed or in training/enrolled. Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks AND a 1-year B.Ed/L.T./Shiksha Shastri (institutional mode only), obtained per applicable NCTE regulations, passed or in training/enrolled. Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year B.El.Ed, passed or in training/enrolled. Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, passed or in training/enrolled. Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a B.Ed (Special Education) recognized by RCI, passed or in training/enrolled. Graduation or Post-Graduation with at least 50% marks AND B.Ed, passed - the minimum-percentage-at-graduation condition does not apply to those who had already taken admission to a B.Ed/B.El.Ed or equivalent course before 29 July 2011. In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher/Headmaster or Assistant Teacher (L.T. Grade) in any UDISE-coded school teaching Classes 6-8. Common Eligibility Notes (Both Levels) Candidates currently undergoing a 1-year degree training course, or enrolled/admitted in a 2-year degree/diploma training course or a 4-year degree training course, are also eligible to apply for UTET 2026. All educational degrees must be from a university established by law in India or a recognized board; training/teaching degrees must be from NCTE-recognized institutions (obtained or being pursued). A 5% relaxation in graduation-level marks is given to candidates from reserved categories - Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes, and differently-abled (Divyang) candidates. Candidates admitted to a 2-year degree/diploma training course or a 4-year degree training course, or currently pursuing/enrolled in one, will be given provisional admission to the exam. Their UTET certificate is valid only once they pass that qualifying course. There is no separate age limit specified in this notification for UTET candidates.
Application Fee
Category One Exam (UTET-I or UTET-II) Both Exams (UTET-I & UTET-II) General and OBC ₹600 ₹1,000 SC/ST/Differently-abled (PH) ₹300 ₹500 Fee must be paid online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. No other payment mode is accepted. Fee once submitted is non-refundable under any circumstances. Fee must be paid by 6 August 2026, 11:59 PM. Applications for which the fee is not paid by this date/time are automatically rejected. If a candidate's fee gets deducted more than once due to a technical or user error, the candidate is personally responsible and the amount will not be refunded in any case.
