Selection Process
Selection for all 151 tenure-based ITI posts is purely merit-based, combining NCTVT/NCVT marks and Trade/Practical Test performance. First, candidates are shortlisted for Trade/Practical Test on the basis of total marks obtained in the NCTVT/NCVT exam; the cut‑off percentage for calling candidates is decided by Ordnance Factory Kanpur. A Trade/Practical Test is then conducted for the relevant trade (Machinist, Examiner, Electrician, etc.) at Ordnance Factory Kanpur to assess hands‑on skills. The final merit list is prepared using combined scores with 80% weightage to NCTVT/NCVT exam marks and 20% weightage to the Trade/Practical Test. Candidates placed in merit are called for Document Verification, where all original certificates and eligibility conditions are checked; if some candidates are rejected at this stage, additional candidates in order of merit may be called until all notified posts are covered.
