Eligibility / Qualification
To be eligible for BFUHS Pharmacist Recruitment 2026, candidates must satisfy all three qualification conditions simultaneously. The eligibility is determined as on the last date of application, i.e., 1 July 2026. Educational Qualification Passed Senior Secondary Part-II (Class 12) with Science or its equivalent from a recognised university or institution; AND Possess a Diploma in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Pharm.D (Doctor of Pharmacy) from a recognised university or institution, or higher qualification in the same discipline; AND Registered as a Pharmacist with the Punjab Pharmacy Council set up under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 Certificates and diplomas from non-recognised institutions will not be accepted and candidature will be declared ineligible. Foreign university degrees require equivalence/recognition proof from the University Grants Commission. Knowledge of Punjabi Language No person shall be appointed by direct recruitment unless they have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent Punjabi language examination. Additionally, as per Punjab Government Notification No. GSR72/Const./Art.309/Amd.(22)/2022 dated 28.10.2022, candidates must pass a qualifying Punjabi Language test equivalent to Matriculation standard with at least 50% marks, conducted by the recruiting agency alongside the competitive exam. Failure to secure 50% in this test will disqualify the candidate regardless of their other scores. Exception: War Heroes discharged from defence/paramilitary services on account of disability (or their widows/dependents appointed under Government instructions) are exempt from the Punjabi language requirement. Wards of defence personnel who are bonafide Punjab residents must qualify the Punjabi test within two years of appointment. Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026) Candidates wondering about age eligibility can note that the age limit for BFUHS Pharmacist 2026 is between 18 and 37 years as on 1 January 2026. Age relaxations are available for several categories as detailed below. Candidates should select their category carefully at the time of applying, as the category cannot be changed after submission under any circumstances. Selection Process
Selection for BFUHS Pharmacist 2026 is based on a written examination (90 marks) combined with experience marks (10 marks), giving a total of 100 marks. The written test is conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. Written Examination – 90 Marks (conducted by BFUHS, Faridkot) Experience Marks – 10 Marks (as per Punjab Government, Health & Family Welfare Dept., Health-5 Branch, Letter Memo No. 1037633: HFW-HLH5021/161/2025-2H5/1/1329287/2026 dated 26.02.2026) Punjabi Language Qualifying Test – Mandatory qualifying test (minimum 50% marks required; failure disqualifies candidate) Document Verification – Certificate verification after written test Police Verification – Required before appointment; must produce Police Verification Certificate and clearance of criminal charges Final Merit List – Combined and category-wise merit list prepared on inter-se merit of written test and experience marks Minimum qualifying marks in written test: 33%. Candidates scoring below 33% in the written examination will be declared ineligible for selection. In case of a tie in marks, preference will be given to the elder candidate. Higher qualification carries no extra weightage. Experience Marks – COVID-19 Service Benefit (Annexure-1 Detail) Candidates who served under the Punjab Health Department or its various institutions/agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020 to June 2021, the period of lockdown/partial lockdown in Punjab) are eligible for experience marks. The criteria are as follows: COVID service of less than one year: 5 marks COVID service of one year or more: 10 marks Key conditions for experience marks: The written exam retains a maximum of 90 marks; experience benefit is capped at 10 marks. COVID experience must be verified by the Head of the concerned institution. The experience benefit applies only to Group-C and Group-D cadre vacancies. The benefit is available only when the candidate is applying for a vacancy of the same nature/job responsibilities for which they worked on contract/outsourcing under the Health Department during the pandemic. This benefit is applicable only for direct recruitment vacancies in the current year (up to 31.12.2026).
