Eligibility / Qualification
1) Educational qualification Bachelor’s or Master’s or Doctorate degree in any of the following (or equivalent notified by Central Government/FSSAI): Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry or Medicine. Additionally, other disciplines recognised by FSSAI for Food Safety Officer, including MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, BSRC and degrees listed under “Food Technology” and “Agricultural Science” in FSSAI notifications (e.g. Food Engineering, Food Processing & Preservation, Food Safety & Quality Management, Agriculture, Dairy Technology, Horticulture, etc.). Candidate must successfully complete FSSAI‑specified training at a recognised institute after recruitment, before being notified as Food Safety Officer under Section 37 of FSS Act, 2006. Candidates having any financial interest in manufacture, import or sale of any article of food are not eligible to be appointed as FSO. 2) Punjabi language requirement Must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject OR any equivalent exam in Punjabi language as specified by Punjab Government. For Group‑C posts, must also pass a qualifying Punjabi Language test equivalent to Matric level with at least 50% marks, conducted by the recruitment agency in addition to the competitive exam; failing this disqualifies the candidate from final merit list. Certain war‑hero/defence‑personnel categories have relaxed Punjabi requirement as per Punjab Govt rules. 3) Age limit (as on 31.12.2025) General age limit: 18 to 37 years. Relaxations: SC/BC: +5 years. Persons with Disabilities: +10 years. Ex‑Servicemen: deduct full service in Armed Forces from actual age; if resultant age does not exceed upper age limit by more than 3 years, considered within age limit. Punjab Govt/Boards/Corporations/Commissions/Authorities employees & all State/Central Govt employees: upper age relaxable up to 45 years. Widows, divorcees and certain other categories of married women: upper age relaxable up to 40 years as per letter No. 1/50/83-5PP(1368)-3454 dated 23.04.1984. 4) Nationality Citizen of India, or Citizen of Nepal, or Subject of Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962 to settle permanently, or Person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries (Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, several East African countries, Ethiopia, Vietnam) with intention of permanent settlement in India, with eligibility certificate from Govt. of Punjab, Home Affairs & Justice. 5) Other conditions Degrees/diplomas from non‑recognised institutions or certain distance‑learning courses within India are not accepted. Candidates must meet all qualifications and conditions by the last date of application.

All Categories except SC Category: Rs. 2360/- (Fee Rs. 2000 + GST Rs. 360 @ 18%). For SC Category: Rs. 1180/- (Fee Rs. 1000 + GST Rs. 180 @ 18%). Non-refundable.

Selection Process
Written Test (100 Marks): Candidates will be selected purely on merit of a written examination of 100 marks conducted by BFUHS, Faridkot. Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates scoring at least 33% in the written test will be treated as eligible; those scoring below 33% will be declared ineligible. Merit & Tie-breaking: Final selection will be based on inter‑se merit of written test, subject to verification of original certificates and other conditions; if marks are equal, candidate older in age will be given preference. Punjabi Language Test: For Group‑C posts, candidates must also qualify a separate Punjabi language test (Matric level) with minimum 50% marks; failing this will exclude them from final merit list irrespective of written‑test marks. Document & Police Verification: Appointment is subject to satisfactory verification of certificates, experience (if applicable), police verification, and no pending disciplinary proceedings in case of Government employees. No Extra Weightage: No additional weightage is given for higher qualifications beyond prescribed eligibility.
