| Salary | The Veterinary Assistant Surgeon post carries a fixed government pay level under the Odisha Revised Scale of Pay Rules, along with standard allowances. | Age Limit | The age limit for this recruitment is calculated as on 1 January 2026, and it applies uniformly since this recruitment is conducted only for SEBC/SC/ST candidates. A special age relaxation exists for Persons with Disabilities within these categories. A candidate must have attained 21 years and must not be above 47 years on 1 January 2026, i.e., born not earlier than 2 January 1979 and not later than 1 January 2005. Persons with disabilities belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories, whose permanent disability is 40% or more, are eligible for an age relaxation of 10 years over and above 47 years. A candidate falling under more than one relaxation category is eligible for only one benefit of upper age relaxation, whichever is most beneficial. Save as provided above, the age limits prescribed can in no case be relaxed. Date of birth entered in the High School Certificate (or equivalent) will only be accepted by the Commission. |

Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates need a veterinary degree along with a valid state registration to be eligible for this post, and additional conversion certificates apply to candidates with foreign degrees. Possess a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or its equivalent degree from any recognized University/College/Institution in India or abroad. Possess required conversion certificates recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) in case of candidates having degrees from universities of foreign countries. Possess a valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21), and must register under this Act on or before the last date of submission of the online application form.

Selection Process
Selection is based entirely on a written examination consisting of two objective-type papers, followed by document verification for shortlisted candidates. Here is the detailed exam structure as given in the notification. The Commission prepares the merit list based on marks secured in the written examination, equal to the number of advertised vacancies. Cut-off marks, answer keys, and individual marks will only be declared on the Commission's website after the final result and select list are published. The venue of the written examination will be located at Cuttack/Bhubaneswar.
