Eligibility / Qualification
Educational Qualification Post Minimum Qualification & Eligibility Criteria Mining Sirdar, T&S Grade-C (a) Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS, Valid Gas Testing Certificate, Valid First-Aid Certificate, and 3 years' experience working in Underground Mines; OR (b) Diploma in Mining Engineering from a Government-recognized institute, Valid Overman competency certificate issued by DGMS, Valid Gas Testing Certificate, and Valid First-Aid Certificate. Assistant Foreman (Trainee) (Electrical)/Electrical Supervisor, T&S Grade-C Diploma (minimum 3-year course) in Electrical Engineering from a Government-recognized institute, and a valid Electrical Supervisory Certificate for Mines issued by the Appropriate Government. Candidates with other equivalent qualifications approved by the Central Government, or a higher qualification in the respective discipline, are also eligible. For Mining Sirdar, candidates with higher statutory competency certificates issued by DGMS are also eligible. Degree/Postgraduate/Diploma qualifications acquired through distance learning/part-time mode (or their equivalent) will not be considered. Since these vacancies are for both UG and OC mines, candidates holding restricted competency certificates are not eligible. All qualifications must be recognized by AICTE/UGC/appropriate Indian Statutory Authorities. WCL Age Limit 2026 Minimum age: 18 years as on the cut-off date (10.08.2026). Maximum age: 30 years for Unreserved (UR) and EWS candidates as on the cut-off date. Selection Process
Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by document scrutiny/verification and a medical examination. WCL CBT Exam Pattern 2026 The CBT consists of 100 questions: Part 1 – General Aptitude (20 questions); Part 2 – Technical (80 questions). Each question carries 1 mark. Duration: 90 minutes. Questions are multiple-choice with four options. There is no negative marking; no marks are awarded for unattempted questions. The question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi); in case of any discrepancy, the English version is valid and final. In case of a tie in CBT marks, it is resolved first by Date of Birth (elder candidate ranked higher), then by alphabetic order of first name as per the Matriculation certificate. A Merit Panel is published on the WCL website after document verification, followed by a provisional offer of appointment based on relative merit and reservation norms. Candidature will be cancelled if a candidate is found ineligible at any stage - during scrutiny, during probation, or even during the course of employment. WCL Mining Sirdar Syllabus 2026 (Part 2 highlights) Beyond the common General Aptitude section (English, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, and current affairs), the Mining Sirdar technical syllabus covers: Explosives and Blasting Practice; Board and Pillar development/depillaring methods; Strata control and support systems; Stowing; Opencast working methods; Drifting; Geology; Mine Surveying; Danger of Inundation; Mine Fires and firefighting; Mine Rescue; Mine Ventilation and gases; Duties of Sirdar; Man-riding systems; Winding and shaft safety; Shaft sinking; Coal dust regulations; Accident classification; Face machineries; basic mine electrical systems; and provisions of the Mines Act 1952, Coal Mines Regulations 2017, and related DGMS circulars. WCL Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Syllabus 2026 (Part 2 highlights) Beyond the common General Aptitude section, the technical syllabus covers: Basics of Electrical Engineering (Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Law, power factor, safety devices); Power generation economics; Electrical Machineries (motors, generators, transformers); Electric Drives and Control (VFDs, PLC, SCADA, DCS); Switchgear and protective devices; Earthing systems (IS-3043); Neutral systems of power supply; Sub-station design and safety; Overhead lines and underground cables; General electrical safety and first aid; relevant legislation (CEA Regulations 2023, Electricity Act 2003, NBC 2016); and on-site emergency management planning.
