Eligibility / Qualification

Educational Qualification Candidates must hold a full-time Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology in Mechanical, Production, Production & Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical/Railways, Mechatronics & Automobile, or a combination of the above disciplines in part or whole. If the marksheet does not show a class/division or percentage, candidates must submit the conversion formula issued by their university; if no such formula exists, an authorized undertaking is required, and a CGPA of 6 on a 10-point scale will then be treated as 60%. Experience Requirement Candidates need a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in production or mechanical maintenance or other mechanical engineering areas, gained while working at a project site, factory, or plant. Training (except on-the-job training), internship, teaching, academic work, fellowship, or Ph.D. research experience will not be counted. However, Apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, in the relevant discipline will be considered towards the minimum experience, subject to fulfilment of other eligibility conditions. Selection Process
Selection for RITES Recruitment 2026 involves three stages - a written test, document scrutiny, and an interview - with a fixed weightage split between the written test and interview. 1. Written Test The written test consists of 125 objective-type questions carrying one mark each, for a duration of 2.5 hours. There is no negative marking; no marks are deducted for incorrect answers. PwBD candidates are eligible for a compensatory time of 50 minutes. A minimum of 50% marks is required for UR/EWS candidates (45% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD against reserved posts) to be considered further. 2. Document Scrutiny Based on the written test result and the number of vacancies, RITES will scrutinize the documents submitted by candidates, and shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview preceded by verification of original documents. It is the candidate's responsibility to upload documents that substantiate all claims made in the application form. 3. Interview Candidates are called for interview in the ratio of 1:6 to the number of vacancies. Weightage: Written Test – 60%, Interview – 40% (Technical & Professional proficiency: 30, Personality, Communication & Competency: 10). Total: 100%. A minimum of 60% marks in the interview is required for UR/EWS candidates (50% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PWD against reserved posts) to be placed on the panel. There is no minimum qualifying mark required in the aggregate. Candidates can appear for the selection process in either Hindi or English. Based on RITES's discretion, the written test and/or interview may be conducted at Regional Offices, which will be communicated with the call letters. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to being found medically fit as per RITES Rules and Standards of Medical Fitness for the post. Written Test Venue & Centres Candidates must give two preferences for their choice of written test centre at the time of online application. RITES will make efforts to allot a preferred centre but reserves the right to allot a different one. S.
