Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Maharashtra Government rules. Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of application. Only those candidates who fulfill all the prescribed conditions are eligible to apply. Admission at all stages is provisional and subject to eligibility verification. The reservation benefit is available only to candidates who are permanent residents of Maharashtra. The benefit under various reservation categories is not available to candidates who are not permanent residents of Maharashtra. A candidate claiming reservation must have a valid certificate issued by the competent authority. Economically weaker sections (SEBC) candidates claiming age relaxation and marks relaxation must submit the required Non-Creamy Layer Certificate and the caste certificate in the prescribed format as per Government Resolution dated 27 February 2024 and Government Circular dated 28 June 2024 and 05 July 2024. Educational Qualification Candidate Category Qualification Experience Advocate / Public Prosecutor / Government Advocate Degree in Law Must have practiced as an Advocate in the High Court of Bombay or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than 3 years as on 30th April 2026. Period as Law Clerk (after provisional enrolment) with High Court Judges or subordinate Judicial Officers is included. Practice reckoned from date of provisional enrolment/registration with State Bar Council. OR Must be working/have worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for not less than 3 years as on 30th April 2026 (Advocate service period included). Ministerial Staff of High Court of Bombay / Subordinate Courts / Offices of Government Pleaders / Legal Assistant and above in Legal Section of Law & Judiciary Department, Mantralaya Degree in Law Minimum 3 years of service as on 30th April 2026 after obtaining Degree in Law.

Selection Process
The selection process for MPSC Civil Judge Junior Division & Judicial Magistrate First Class Recruitment 2026 consists of 3 (three) successive stages — Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview/Personality Test. Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination will be called for the Main Examination. Candidates qualifying the Main Examination will be called for the Interview/Personality Test. The final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in the Main Examination and Interview. Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination will be intimated about the Main Examination date separately by the Commission. Stage 1 - Preliminary Examination (Purva Pariksha) Examination Date Exam Centres Civil Judge Junior Division & Judicial Magistrate First Class Preliminary Examination 2024 02-08-2026 (Sunday) Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Kolhapur, Navi Mumbai, and Nagpur Stage 2 - Main Examination Candidates shortlisted on the basis of Preliminary Examination results will be called for the Main Examination. Date will be announced separately on the MPSC website. Stage 3 - Interview / Personality Test Candidates shortlisted on the basis of Main Examination results will be called for the Interview/Personality Test. Final selection will be based on combined marks of Main Examination and Interview.
