Eligibility / Qualification
Eligibility for ISRO URSC JRF Recruitment 2026 is two-part: a qualifying postgraduate degree with the required minimum marks, and a valid national-level qualifying test score. Both conditions must be satisfied simultaneously as on the last date, i.e., 11 July 2026. Only passed candidates are eligible - students awaiting final results should not apply. Educational Qualification For positions JRF-E1 to JRF-E12, JRF-M1, JRF-M2, JRF-M3: M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc.(Engg.) or equivalent postgraduate degree in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. For position JRF-E13 (M.Sc. route): M.Sc. in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% average of all semesters or CGPA/CPI of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. For position JRF-E13 (M.Tech. route): M.Tech. or equivalent in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. All degrees must be duly recognised by AICTE/UGC or any other organisation authorised by the Government of India. Essential qualifications must be completed within the stipulated duration of the course as prescribed by the university. Candidates who pursued professional courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible to apply for JRF positions. Where a university mentions both CGPA and percentage in its degree certificate or consolidated mark sheet, at least one criterion must meet DOS/ISRO eligibility norms. Conversion of CGPA into percentage of marks is not permitted to determine eligibility regardless of any conversion formula prescribed by the university. Rounding of percentage/CGPA is not allowed - values must be entered to the nearest 2 decimal places (e.g., 8.235 entered as 8.23; 8.236 as 8.24). NET / NET-Equivalent Requirement Candidates must have qualified one of the following national-level examinations. This is a mandatory requirement - possession of the degree alone does not make a candidate eligible to apply. CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test including NET-Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) conducted by MoE JAM (Joint Admission Test) conducted by MoE JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc. Age Limit (as on 11 July 2026) The maximum age for all JRF positions is 28 years as on 11 July 2026. Candidates wondering about age relaxation can note that SC/ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation and OBC candidates get 3 years. Additional relaxations as per Government of India orders apply to Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Widows, Divorced Women, and Women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried. Selection Process
Selection for ISRO URSC JRF 2026 involves an initial screening stage followed by an interview. Meeting the minimum qualification is necessary but does not automatically entitle a candidate to be called for interview - shortlisting is based on academic performance and other parameters in the online application. Initial Screening - Based on academic performance and other parameters given in the online application. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Interview - Conducted in Bengaluru only on a given date. Call letters for the interview will be sent by e-mail only. The interview result will be announced on the ISRO website. URSC/ISRO reserves the right to change the venue/date of the interview. Outstation candidates shortlisted for interview will be reimbursed to-and-fro Second Class Sleeper Railway fare by the shortest distance from the address in the online application to the interview venue, or non-A/C government bus fare, or actual fare - whichever is less - on production of proof of journey. If a candidate travels by a higher class, only second class rail fare excluding reservation/sleeper charges will be paid. Travel allowance is payable only to candidates allowed for interview after successful document verification.
