Each discipline under this apprenticeship has a distinct educational requirement. This section lists the essential qualification needed to apply for every trade offered by HPSEBL. Discipline Essential Qualification Electrical B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engg. or Electrical & Electronics Engg. from a recognized University/Institute Civil B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engg. from a recognized University/Institute Human Resource Graduate in HR/Personnel, or Graduate in any stream with MBA (HR/Personnel) Finance & Accounts CA / ICWA / M.Com / MBA in Finance from a recognized University/Institute Law Graduate in Law from a recognized University/Institute Information Technology B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc/M.Sc in Computer Science or IT, or BCA/MCA from a recognized University/Institute Management Studies Graduate in Management Studies (BBA/BMS/B.Com), or Graduate in any stream with M.Com/MBA in Management Studies Social Science Graduate/Post-Graduate in Social Works, Sociology, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or Public Administration Hydro Engineering Graduate in Hydro Engg. or B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical Engg.) from a recognized University/Institute Candidates whose qualification was obtained through Distance Learning, Part-Time, or Correspondence mode will not be considered eligible. Wherever CGPA, OGPA, or a letter grade has been awarded, the equivalent aggregate percentage must be indicated in the application form as per the norms adopted by the respective university or institute.

Selection for this apprenticeship is based purely on document screening and a merit list, without any written examination or interview. This section breaks down exactly how the merit score of 100 marks is calculated. Component Weightage Marks obtained in Matriculation (10th) 20% Marks obtained in 10+2 or Diploma (whichever is higher, if both held) 20% Essential Qualification of the discipline applied for 60% Total Marks 100 A separate merit list will be prepared for each discipline based on candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. In case two candidates secure equal marks, the candidate with an earlier date of birth (older in age) will be ranked higher; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher marks in Matriculation will be preferred. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed only on the official HPSEBL website, with no separate individual intimation. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification in a ratio of 1:4 for each seat, where they must produce all original testimonials and certificates. Any false claim found at this stage will lead to cancellation of candidature and possible prosecution. A medical fitness certificate must also be produced before joining.
