Eligibility / Qualification

HPSC Recruitment 2026 for Section Officer, HPF&AS is open exclusively to serving employees of the Himachal Pradesh Government and its associated bodies. Applicants must meet the educational qualification, service, and age criteria described below as on the closing date of application. Educational Qualification Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university. Minimum 3 (three) years of regular service in a H.P. Government Department, Board, Corporation, Autonomous Body, University, or Co-operative Bank of the State of Himachal Pradesh. Desirable: knowledge of the customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh. Age Limit Minimum Age: 18 years Maximum Age: 45 years Age is reckoned as on 01 January 2026.

Application Fee

Category Fee All Candidates (uniform fee, irrespective of category or gender) Rs. 600 Fee is charged separately for the Preliminary and Main Examinations. Payment must be made online via Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or any other digital payment mode through the OTRS portal. Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to any other exam or selection.

Selection Process

The HPSC Section Officer HPF&AS selection process consists of two stages: 1. Preliminary Entrance Examination 120 objective-type multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each. Duration: 2 hours. Subjects: English & Hindi (40 questions), Omnibus Accounts (40 questions), FRSR & HPFR 2009 (40 questions). Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates qualifying will be shortlisted for the Main Examination in a ratio of 10 times the number of vacancies. 2. Main (Entrance) Examination Paper Subject Marks Duration Paper I English and Hindi (Precis, letter writing, noting and drafting) 150 (75+75) 3 hours Paper II Omnibus Accounts (Pay Fixation, Pension, TA, LTC, Leave, GPF rules) 150 3 hours Paper III FR, SR and Himachal Pradesh Financial Rules (HPFR), 2009 150 3 hours Minimum pass marks: 40% in each paper and 45% in aggregate (5% relaxation for reserved categories). Final merit is prepared strictly on the basis of marks obtained, subject to reservation policy. Selected candidates undergo pre-induction training at MSHIPA, followed by HPF&AS Part-I and Part-II examinations.
