Eligibility / Qualification

Meeting the eligibility conditions is mandatory before applying for this post. The notification specifies the educational qualification, citizenship, and language requirements that every applicant must fulfil as on the closing date of application (29/06/2026). Educational Qualification To be eligible for the Additional Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) post, candidates must possess the following: A Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) or Diploma in Automobile Engineering from the Technical Examination Board, a recognized university established under a Central or State Act, or an institution deemed to be a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both. Citizenship Requirement A candidate must either be a citizen of India or possess the nationality specified under Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Age Limit for GSSSB Additional Assistant Engineer Mechanical Recruitment 2026 Age limit is one of the most important eligibility factors, and it is calculated with reference to the last date of application, i.e., 29/06/2026. The candidate's age should not be less than 18 years and not more than 33 years as on 29/06/2026. Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may get relaxation in the upper age limit as per the applicable rules. Application Fee

The examination fee structure is determined by the candidate's category, and the fee must be paid online only. Category Examination Fee Unreserved Rs. 500/- Reserved (Women of all categories, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PWD, Ex-Servicemen) Rs. 400/- Key points regarding fee payment: Fees must be paid online via Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets, along with applicable transaction charges. The fee payment deadline is 01/07/2026 (till 23:59 hrs), after which the payment link will close automatically. Candidates who appear for the examination will get their fee refunded; those who remain absent are not entitled to a refund. If an application is rejected by the Board, the fee already paid will not be refunded.

Selection Process

After the written examination, GSSSB follows a structured process to prepare the final selection list. The provisional result of all candidates who appeared for the exam will be published on the Board's website. Candidates who clear the minimum qualifying standard in both Part-A and Part-B will be shortlisted for document verification, approximately twice the number of vacancies in each category based on merit. After document verification, the final selection list and waiting list (if applicable) will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written examination and category-wise vacancy requirements. Appointment recommendations for selected candidates will be sent by the Board to the concerned government department. Qualifying the written exam alone does not guarantee appointment; the appointing authority's satisfaction regarding the candidate's overall suitability is required.
