Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions as on the last date of application i.e. 05/07/2026. All original certificates for educational qualification, age, caste, experience, and other qualifications must be in possession of the candidate at the time of applying. Criteria Details Citizenship Indian Citizen / Subject of Nepal or Bhutan / Tibetan refugee settled before 01/01/1962 / Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with intent to settle permanently in India. Eligibility certificate from Government required for categories other than Indian citizens. Vision Candidate must have clear/normal vision and must not have colour blindness. Educational Qualification Standard 12 Pass (10+2). Diploma after Std. 10 (10+3 or more years) is also accepted. ITI (2-year course after Std. 10) with NCVT exam passed and English paper from GSHSEB / Gujarat Open School is also equivalent. Polytechnic 3-year Diploma after Std. 10 is also equivalent. Equivalence certificate from Education Board must be produced. Computer Knowledge Basic computer knowledge certificate from a recognized training institution as per Gujarat Government resolution No. CRR-10-2007-120320-G-5, Dt. 13/08/2008; OR computer diploma/degree/certificate from a recognized university; OR Std. 10 / 12 with Computer as a subject. Driving Licence & PSV Badge Male: Valid Heavy Vehicle Licence (HGV/HPV/PSV) from RTO for public vehicle + PSV Badge. Licence must be at least 4 years old. Female: Valid Heavy Vehicle Licence + PSV Badge mandatory at the time of applying. Smart Card Driving Licence (not manual/book-type) required at document verification. Experience Male: Minimum 4 years of experience driving heavy diesel vehicles (bus/truck) after obtaining HGV/HPV/PSV licence. Experience certificate from transporter/company with owner's signature and seal is mandatory. Female: Priority given to those with heavy vehicle driving experience. Female candidates without heavy vehicle experience may be appointed after completing 2 months of satisfactory training at GSRTC's Automatic Driving Test Centre. Height Male (General): Minimum 162 cm. Male (ST): Minimum 160 cm. Female: Minimum 158 cm. Height measured only by GSRTC's authorized height machine certified by the Weights & Measures Department. No other height certificate acceptable. Reservation Benefits Only candidates who are original residents (domicile) of Gujarat are eligible for SC/ST/EWS/SEBC reservation benefits. Application Fee
The online process fee is mandatory for all candidates at the time of filling the application on https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. If a candidate submits multiple application forms, only the last submitted form will be considered, and it must have the fee paid; otherwise all forms will be rejected. Selection Process
Selection will be made through a two-stage process: an OMR-based Written Test followed by a Driving Test. Final merit is based on combined weightage of both stages (40% OMR + 60% Driving Test = 100%). Stage 1 – OMR Written Test (100 Marks, 100 Questions, 60 Minutes) All applicants will be called for the 100-mark OMR-based competitive written test. There is no minimum passing mark for the written test, however candidates scoring 0 (zero) or below will not be eligible for the Driving Test. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong/blank/overwritten answer applies. If a candidate marks option (E) intentionally to skip a question, no negative marks will be deducted for that response. The exam medium is Gujarati except English Grammar section. The Driving Test is conducted at GSRTC’s Automatic Driving Test Centre on GSRTC’s designated vehicle. Minimum passing marks: 35 out of 50. Candidates scoring below 35 will be declared failed. No re-test will be held under any circumstances. Height measurement using GSRTC’s certified machine will be conducted before the Driving Test. Final Merit & Selection Weightage Stage Marks Weightage OMR Written Test 100 marks 40% Automatic Driving Test 50 marks 60% Total 100% Candidates who pass the Driving Test will have their combined weightage score calculated, and the final merit list will be prepared based on 100% combined score against category-wise vacancies. Waiting list will be prepared at 20% of the notified vacancies category-wise. Stage 3 – Document Verification & Medical Fitness Selected candidates will undergo document verification of all original certificates. Appointment will be made subject to medical fitness as confirmed by the designated authority. Performance review will be conducted after 2 years of service; only those with satisfactory performance will continue for the remaining period.
