SalaryThe post of Junior Hindi Translator carries Pay Matrix Level 6 (Rs. 35,400 - 112,400) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. The appointment will initially be on probation for a period of two years, which may be regularized, extended, or terminated based on performance during the probation period.
Age LimitThe maximum age limit for appointment on direct recruitment basis is 30 years. Age is reckoned as on the last date of receipt of online applications, i.e., 07.09.2026. Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must meet the following essential qualification requirements (any one of the following combinations) as specified in the official notification, applicable for Direct Recruits: Master's degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or as the medium of examination at degree level; OR Master's degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or as the medium of examination at degree level; OR Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi as medium and English as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level; OR Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English as medium and Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level; OR Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects or either as medium of examination and the other as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level. AND, in addition to the above, candidates must also possess: A recognized Diploma or Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa, OR Two years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in a Central Government or State Government office, including a Government of India Undertaking.

Selection Process

Selection for the JHT post will be based on a written examination consisting of two papers: Part Mode Subject Marks/Questions Duration Paper-I Objective Type Part-I: General Hindi; Part-II: General English 100 + 100 = 200 2 hours (1 hr sectional timer each part); 2 hrs 40 mins for scribe-eligible candidates Paper-II Descriptive Translation & Essay 200 2 hours; 2 hrs 40 mins for scribe-eligible candidates Paper-I consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions testing understanding of Hindi and English language and literature, correct usage of words, phrases, and idioms. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Based on marks scored in Paper-I, candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for Paper-II. Paper-II includes one passage for translation from Hindi to English, one passage from English to Hindi, and an essay each in Hindi and English. Minimum Qualifying Marks in Paper-I Category Minimum Qualifying Marks UR/General 50% OBC 45% SC 40% Final Merit / Weightage For final selection, weightage will be 50% of the scores in Paper-I and 100% of the marks in Paper-II. There may be separate category-wise cut-offs for Paper-I and Paper-II. Minimum marks required for final selection/merit are as follows: S.
