Eligibility / Qualification

Eligibility differs for each post in terms of service grade, years of experience, and educational background. All candidates must be serving officers from Central/State Government, Union Territories, PSUs, or Autonomous/Statutory bodies. The maximum age limit is 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications for all posts. Below is the post-wise eligibility summary. Post-wise Eligibility at a Glance 1. Joint Director (Capital Market) - 1 Post | Level-12 Must hold an analogous post on regular basis, or have 5 years' service in Level-11. Essential qualification: CA / CS / CFA / CMA / MBA (Finance) / PGDM (Finance) from a recognised institution, with 8 years' experience in capital market regulation or merchant banking. Desirable: Law degree; evidence collection skills. 2. Deputy Director (Banking) - 2 Posts | Level-11 Must hold analogous post, or 5 years' service in Level-10. Essential: CA / CMA / CS / CFA / PGDM (Finance) / MBA (Finance) / M.Com / MBE, with 3 years' experience in finance or banking in any Government organisation. Deputation tenure: 4 years. 3. Deputy Director (Corporate Law) - 2 Posts | Level-11 Must hold analogous post, or 5 years' service in Level-10. Essential: Degree + LLB with 2 years' experience in corporate law, OR 5-year integrated LLB with 3 years' experience in corporate law. 4. Deputy Director (Forensic Audit) - 1 Post | Level-11 Must hold analogous post, or 5 years' service in Level-10. Essential: CA / CMA / CS / CFA / MBA (Finance) / M.Com / LLB with 3 years' experience in audit or forensic audit in any government or listed private organisation. 5. Deputy Director (Investigation) - 3 Posts | Level-11 Must hold analogous post, or 5 years' service in Level-10. Essential: Degree from a recognised university with 5 years' experience in enforcement of regulatory laws or investigation of economic offences. Desirable: CA / CS / CMA / LLB / MBA / PGDM. 6. Principal Private Secretary - 1 Post | Level-11 Stenographer from Central/State/PSU/Autonomous body holding analogous post, or 5 years' service in Level-10. Posting at Delhi only. Duties include secretarial assistance to Head of Department, SFIO. 7-12. Senior Assistant Directors (Banking / Capital Market / Corporate Law / Customs & Excise / Investigation / Taxation) - 13 Posts | Level-10 Must hold analogous post, or 2 years in Level-8, or 3 years in Level-7. Each specialisation requires a relevant professional qualification (CA, MBA Finance, LLB, etc.) with 1-3 years of domain experience. Deputation tenure: 3 years (extendable to 5 for some posts). 13. Senior Prosecutor - 3 Posts | Level-10 Must hold analogous post, or 2 years in Level-8, or 3 years in Level-7. Essential: Graduation + LLB with 2 years' experience in litigation / court matters in a Government organisation, OR 5-year integrated law degree with 3 years' such experience. Desirable: LLM or corporate/criminal law experience. 14. Assistant Director (Investigation) - 12 Posts | Level-8 Must hold analogous post, or 2 years in Level-7, or 6 years in Level-6. Essential: Bachelor's Degree with 3 years' experience in enforcement of regulatory laws or investigation of economic offences in a Government department. Desirable: LLB / CA / CMA / CS / MBA (Finance).

Selection Process

Selection for all posts in SFIO Recruitment 2026 is entirely through the deputation mechanism - there is no written exam or direct interview for external candidates. Applications received through proper channel (via the Cadre Controlling Authority) will be screened, and the selection committee will assess the candidates based on their qualifications, experience, and service record. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for further process. Step 1: Application submission through proper channel via Cadre Controlling Authority (CCA) Step 2: Scrutiny of applications, ACRs/APARs, Vigilance Clearance, and Integrity Certificate Step 3: Selection committee evaluation Step 4: Final posting on deputation basis (ISTC) Selected officers will receive a Special Security Allowance (SSA) at 20% of basic pay. No deputation allowance is admissible along with SSA.
