Candidates must be citizens of India as defined under Articles 5 and 6 of the Constitution of India Apply Online Link Gauhati High Court Stenographer Grade III Job 2026 Gauhati High Court Stenographer Grade III Selection Process 2026 The selection process consists of three stages: Stage I – Stenography Test (Dictation & Transcription) – 90 Marks Voice testing before dictation (2 minutes). Dictation in shorthand at 80 wpm (total 560 words in 7 minutes).​ Time allowed for testing computer: 3 minutes.​ Time for transcription on computer: 20 minutes Stage II – Written Test (Descriptive) – 100 Marks, 2 Hours (Qualifying) English Language Segment – 80 marks (Composition, Essay, Grammar).​ Mizo Language Segment – 20 marks.​ Candidates in ratio of 1:10 from the stenography merit list will be called for the written test.​ Minimum qualifying marks: 40% in English segment (32/80).​ 40% in Mizo segment (8/20).​ Written test is qualifying in nature and marks will not be counted for final merit.​ Stage III – Interview / Viva‑Voce – 30 Marks Candidates in ratio of 1:3 in order of merit in stenography test will be called for Interview/Viva‑Voce, subject to qualifying written test.​ Minimum qualifying marks: 60% (18 out of 30) in Interview/Viva‑Voce.​ Final merit Final selection will be based on total marks obtained in Stenography Skill Test and Interview/Viva‑Voce only. If two or more candidates secure the same grand total, higher marks in the stenography test will be given preference; if still tied, the candidate senior in age will be preferred.
