| Salary | The Fire Officer engaged on contract basis will be paid a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 60,000/- (Rupees Sixty Thousand only), subject to applicability of the DoPT Office Memorandum on fixation of pay in respect of retired government employees. No other benefits are payable apart from this consolidated remuneration. Key terms and conditions of the contract include: Contract Duration: Initially one year from the date of joining/reporting, extendable at the discretion of the Port Authority based on satisfactory performance. The engagement does not confer any right to continuous employment or any regular appointment in VPA. Reporting and Duty: The candidate must report to duty immediately on issue of the appointment order and work under the control of the Dy. Conservator (HoD), VPA, at the Fire Service Section, with a minimum duty of 8 hours per day (general/shifts). Leave: Eligible for 12 days of leave in a calendar year on a pro-rata basis, subject to prior permission from the competent authority. Periodical Fitness: Required to undergo medical tests as prescribed in VPA Regulations and report to duty only after medical fitness is certified by the CMO/VPA. Training: On-the-job training to operate the Fire Fighting System at VPA is mandatory. Accommodation: A suitable Type IV quarter may be provided on request at standard/market rent, subject to availability (bachelor accommodation is not provided), with water, electricity, and conservancy charges payable on actuals. Mobile Reimbursement: Up to Rs. 500/- per month towards mobile phone recharge, or actuals, whichever is lower. Uniform: The Fire Officer must wear a proper uniform at his own cost during duty hours and follow all safety norms. Medical Facility: In case of any accident or injury while on duty, medical facilities will be provided only at GJH (Government/King George Hospital). Headquarters: The Fire Officer should not leave the headquarters without proper permission from the Deputy Conservator. Applicability of Regulations: The VPE (Temporary) Regulations do not apply to employees engaged on contract basis. Income Tax: Applicable income tax will be recovered from the remuneration as per extant IT Rules. Attendance: Must attend on all working days and Port holidays, including emergencies after duty hours, without any additional remuneration. Transport: The candidate must arrange his own transport for attending the work spot as per the schedule decided by the competent authority. Termination and Resignation: VPA reserves the right to terminate or rescind the contract at any time without assigning reasons. A Fire Officer wishing to resign must give one month's notice; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of one month's remuneration. Disputes: Any disputes arising during the contract period will be referred to the Chairperson, VPA, whose decision will be final and binding. |

Ability to advise and instruct on maintaining Fire Fighting Units in good repair. Capability to supervise safety arrangements for handling hazardous cargo in the Port area. Ability to maintain liaison with other fire fighting services in Visakhapatnam and implement the mutual aid scheme. Capability to assist in drawing up and implementing a Civil Defence Plan when required. Willingness to attend to all other duties as prescribed by the Competent Authorities. |

Eligibility / Qualification

Selection Process
