Selection Process

Selection for UPESSC Assistant Professor posts is based on a merit list prepared from a 360-mark written examination and a 40-mark interview. The written examination consists of 120 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions - 30 questions on General Knowledge and 90 questions on the relevant subject. Duration of the written examination is 2 hours. Each correct answer carries 3 marks; 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer or multiple answers marked for a single question (negative marking). Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on written examination marks; being called for interview or merely appearing in/passing the written exam does not by itself entitle a candidate to final selection. In case of a tie in merit, precedence is given first to higher written exam marks, then interview marks, then the highest percentage in the essential qualification/PhD-JRF-NET combination as specified, and finally to the older candidate (higher age). College allotment/preference (Adhikaranata) for appointment is decided by the Director of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj.
