Other allowances are as per State Government Orders. The pay structure is as follows. Post Pay Scale (Basic Pay) Academic Level Professor Rs. 1,44,200/- – Rs. 2,18,200/- Academic Level 14 In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will be entitled to other admissible allowances as per State Government orders in force. Appointments will be made on probation for a period of one year, which may be waived or extended in exceptional cases. The University's rules framed and amended from time to time will govern the probation terms. During or at the end of the probationary period, the services of the incumbent may be terminated without assigning any reasons. |

Eligibility / Qualification
The eligibility for the post of Professor at Presidency University follows UGC-aligned norms and must be satisfied under one of two defined pathways - academic route (a) or professional/industry route (b). All essential qualifications must have been obtained from a recognized University or Institute affiliated to UGC or other statutory apex bodies, or recognized by the State or Central Government as a centre of higher learning. Route A – Academic / Research Path An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned, allied, or relevant discipline. Published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals. A total research score of 120 as per the criteria in Appendix I, Table 1 of the notification. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a university or college as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at University or National Level Institutions, with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates. Route B – Outstanding Professional / Industry Path An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant, allied, or applied discipline from any academic institution (not covered under Route A) or industry. Must have made significant contribution to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence. Must have 10 years of experience in the relevant field. Marks Relaxation for Reserved Categories A relaxation of 5% at the Graduate and Masters level is available for SC, ST, Differently-abled (physically and visually), and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates for eligibility and assessment of good academic record. However, Differently-abled candidates in Physical Education discipline are not eligible for this relaxation. The minimum qualifying marks of 55% at the Master's level is relaxable to 50% for Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991. Grace marks will not be included while computing the eligibility marks of 55% or the relaxed 50%. Other Important Notes on Eligibility Time spent acquiring M.Phil and/or Ph.D. degrees shall not be counted or claimed as teaching or research experience for appointment to the post of Professor. For foreign university degrees, the degree must be recognized as equivalent to its Indian counterpart by the Association of Indian Universities. Proficiency in English - the medium of instruction at Presidency University - is required for all posts. Candidates already in employment must apply through proper channel and must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to appear before the Selection Committee.

Selection Process
Presidency University has not specified a written examination for Professor posts. Selection is based on academic credentials, research experience, and performance in a personal interview before the Selection Committee. The overall procedure is designed to be transparent and objective, with a scoring system based on weightage given to different dimensions of the candidate's performance. Application Screening: The respective screening committee of the University will shortlist candidates based on qualifications, experience, and other credentials. Meeting minimum eligibility does not guarantee a call for interview. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview before the Selection Committee. All shortlisted candidates must be physically present before the Selection Committee on the day of interview - no exceptions. Document Verification: Photocopies of all testimonials and certificates must be submitted at the time of interview. Originals must also be brought for verification. The number of candidates called for interview will be decided by the respective screening committee. Candidates will be communicated interview details to their registered postal and email addresses. The University reserves the right to keep all or some vacancies unfilled if circumstances warrant, and the selection of advertised posts need not be confined only to formal applicants.
