Eligibility / Qualification

A candidate should meet the eligibility criteria and provide information current as of the last date of online application submission; candidates who do not possess the requisite essential qualification by the closing date will not be eligible. The post-wise qualification patterns are summarised below by grade. Experience: 10 years as regular teacher or 5 years as Associate Professor/Reader for postgraduates; 13 years as regular teacher or 8 years as Associate Professor/Reader for undergraduates. 26061 Tibetan Traditional Painting (A) An eminent scholar with a doctoral degree, minimum 10 years' research/teaching experience, minimum 6 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, and a total research score of 120; OR (B) A traditional/professional artist with a Master's degree, "A" grade artist status of AIR/Doordarshan, 10 years of outstanding performing achievement, significant contributions and ability to guide research, participation in national/international seminars/conferences or award/fellowship recipient, and ability to teach theory with illustrations. 26071 Rare Buddhist Text Research (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Bhot Bauddha Darshan or Bauddha Darshan, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience (including editing, translation and restoration work with special reference to Buddhist Tantra) and a total research score of 120. Erudition in Tibetan/Sanskrit with knowledge of Hindi and English. Desirable: knowledge of ancient scripts (Newari, Bhujimol, Ranjana, etc.)/Apabhransh or Siddha Sahitya. 26081 Dictionary (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in Bhot Bauddha Darshan/Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy or Sanskrit Bauddha Darshan, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience, and erudition in Tibetan/Sanskrit with knowledge of Hindi and English. 26091 BRA Research Professor, Tenure Post (RR CIHTS 2026) An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Sanskrit Buddhist Studies, Tibetan Studies, or Sanskrit, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120, minimum 10 years' teaching/research experience with evidence of successfully guiding a doctoral candidate, and erudition in Sanskrit with knowledge of Bhoti and English. Selection Process
Merely fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview; CIHTS reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for interview. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the CIHTS website. Registration is provisional, as the eligibility of shortlisted candidates will be verified at the time of Interview/Written Test from original documents. A registered candidate's candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage of the recruitment process, or even after joining, if any information provided is found false or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria. In-service candidates should apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer with the application, or at the time of interview/written test if shortlisted. Candidates will have to appear for the interview/written test at their own expense/arrangements. The Institute reserves the right to adopt an appropriate method of screening and shortlisting candidates at any stage, which may include relaxation and/or upgradation of qualification/experience/age, as recommended by the Screening/Selection Committee. The decision of CIHTS in all matters relating to recruitment will be final and binding on candidates.
