Selection Process

Selection is based on a merit list prepared for all candidates who apply against the notification, calculated as the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and the percentage of marks in ITI, in the trade in which apprenticeship is sought. For Matriculation percentage, marks obtained by the candidate in all subjects are considered - not the marks of any single subject or group of subjects. For ITI percentage, marks mentioned in the provisional/final certificate are considered. In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier is considered first. The final merit list is prepared division/unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of the percentage of marks obtained. Candidates finally enlisted are subject to verification of original testimonials and production of a medical certificate (as per the notification's Annexure-IV). Candidates should note that no centralised merit list is formed - each unit's merit list is prepared separately based on candidates who applied for that specific unit. Medical Fitness Selected candidates must produce a medical certificate in the prescribed format at the time of Document Verification, signed by a Government-authorised Gazetted Doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital. Standards of fitness for Persons with Disability are also specified in the notification, covering Locomotor Disability/Cerebral Palsy (not less than 40% relevant disability), Hearing Impairment (loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear, including Deaf, Dumb, or Deaf & Dumb candidates), and other benchmark disability categories as defined in the notification.
