Eligibility / Qualification

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); To be eligible for ECoR GDCE Recruitment 2026, a candidate must be a regular employee of East Coast Railway (including erstwhile Waltair division/SCoR), excluding RPF/RPSF staff, currently holding lien in ECoR. Employees who have resigned or transferred out of East Coast Railway are not eligible. Employees already in the same grade/pay level as the notified post can apply for GDCE from Non-Safety to Safety posts and Safety to Safety posts; employees in a lower grade/pay level can apply for all notified categories, provided they hold the prescribed educational qualification. ECoR GDCE Qualification Educational and technical qualification requirements vary by post, as detailed in Annexure-B of the notification: Post Minimum Qualification Assistant Loco Pilot Matriculation/SSLC + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in a relevant trade, OR Matriculation/SSLC + Act Apprenticeship in a relevant trade, OR 3-year Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering Station Master Degree from a recognized university or its equivalent Goods Trains Manager Degree from a recognized university or its equivalent Junior Engineer (various disciplines) 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics, as applicable), or B.Sc. Engineering of 3-year duration for Civil posts Technicians (various trades) Matriculation/SSLC + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade, OR Matriculation/SSLC + Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade (trade varies by post - Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, etc.) Junior Clerk cum Typist 12th (+2 Stage) or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks (relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD and higher-qualified candidates); typing proficiency in English/Hindi on computer required Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector 12th (+2 Stage) or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate marks (relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD and higher-qualified candidates) Exact designation-wise qualification (all 23 individual post variants, e.g. JE/Civil-Track Machine, Technician-III/Welder/C&W) is listed in Annexure-B of the official notification. Selection Process

Selection under ECoR GDCE 2026 follows a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by post-specific additional stages, Document Verification, and Medical Examination: Post Exam Mode Additional Test Assistant Loco Pilot CBT (120 min, 100 questions) Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) Station Master CBT (90 min, 120 questions) Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) Goods Trains Manager CBT (90 min, 120 questions) None Junior Engineer CBT (120 min, 150 questions) None Technicians CBT (90 min, 100 questions) None Junior Clerk cum Typist CBT (90 min, 120 questions) Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector CBT (90 min, 120 questions) None There is negative marking in CBT: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer. There is no negative marking in CBAT. Minimum qualifying marks in CBT: UR – 40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25% (relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved vacancies). Shortlisting for CBAT/Typing Skill Test is done at 8 times the number of vacancies, based on CBT merit. For ALP, final merit uses 50% weightage for CBT and 50% for CBAT. For Station Master, it is 70% CBT and 30% CBAT. Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for Document Verification, based on CBT/CBAT merit. Final appointment is subject to passing the prescribed Medical Fitness Test.
