SalarySelected candidates for the post of Police Constable will receive a pay scale of Rs. 19,900/- per month as per Punjab Government Notification No. FD-FP-10MISC/87/2020-2FP1 dated 29.12.2020 and Punjab Police (First Amendment) Rules, 2025. Minimum pay of Rs. 19,900/- per month is admissible for three years from the date of joining, along with other admissible allowances such as DA, HRA and benefits as per government rules.

Eligibility / Qualification

Nationality The candidate should be a citizen of lndia, who has not obtained the citizenship/permanent residency/green card of any other country. Physical Standards Cadre Minimum Height (Male) Minimum Height (Female/Transgender) District & Armed Police 5 feet 7 inches (170.2 cm) 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cm) Note: All Transgender candidates shall be treated at par with Female candidates in respect of Physical Screening Test and Physical Measurement Test.

Selection Process

The Punjab Police Constable Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of three stages: Stage-I: Computer Based Test (CBT) The CBT comprises two papers: Paper-I (100 marks, 2 hours duration) Section Topics Number of Questions General Awareness Constitution, Central & State Legislature, History, Geography, Culture & Economy of Punjab, Health & Nutrition, Current Affairs 35 Quantitative Aptitude and Numerical Skills Simplification, Average, Decimal & Fractions, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple Interest, Time & Work 20 Mental Ability & Logical Reasoning Number & Letter Series, Sequencing, Statements & Conclusions, Pattern Completion, Order & Ranking, Direction & Distances, Relationship Problems 20 English Language Skills Reading Comprehension, Punjabi to English Translation, Sentence rearrangement & correction, Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks, Spelling Correction, Vocabulary 10 Punjabi Language Skills ਸ਼ੁੱਧ/ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧ, ਸਮਾਨਾਰਥਕ/ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਖਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਹਾਵਰੇ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ, etc. 10 Digital Literacy & Awareness Fundamentals of Computers, MS Office, Internet, Email Communication, Mobile Phones 05 Total 100 Paper-II (50 marks, 1 hour duration) – Mandatory Qualifying Paper Punjabi Language test of Matriculation standard Qualifying criteria: 50% marks (25 out of 50) Note: Marks obtained in Paper-II will NOT be counted for merit calculation Minimum Qualifying Marks (Paper-I after normalization): SC/BC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen: 35% Other categories: 40% Important Points: No negative marking Normalization will be applied as CBT conducted in multiple shifts Answer key will be published after exam; candidates can raise objections within 48 hours (Rs. 50 per objection) Stage-II: Physical Screening Test (PST) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT) Candidates qualifying Paper-I and Paper-II will be shortlisted for Stage-II based on merit. Physical Screening Test (PST): Candidate Category Physical Tests Male (including Ex-servicemen below 35 years) • 1600 meters race in 6 min 30 sec (1 chance) • Long Jump 3.80 meters (3 chances) • High Jump 1.10 meters (3 chances) Ex-Servicemen Male (above 35 years) • 1400 meters walk/run in 12 min (1 chance) • 10 Full Squats within 3 minutes (1 chance) Female/Transgender (including Ex-servicemen below 35 years) • 800 meters race in 4 min 30 sec (1 chance) • Long Jump 3.00 meters (3 chances) • High Jump 0.95 meters (3 chances) Ex-Servicemen Female (above 35 years) • 800 meters run in 6 minutes (1 chance) Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Height measurement as per eligibility criteria mentioned above Candidates not meeting minimum height will be disqualified Note: Pregnant female candidates may request postponement of PST/PMT by submitting medical certificate from government hospital. One opportunity will be given within 6 months after delivery. Stage-III: Document Scrutiny Candidates qualifying Stage-II will be called for document verification. Required documents include: Matriculation certificate (proof of age) 10+2 or equivalent certificate Punjabi qualification proof Domicile certificate (for female candidates applying under General category) Category certificate (SC/BC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen, etc.) NOC (for serving government employees) Photo identity proof (Aadhaar, Driving License, PAN, Voter ID, or Passport) Note: Candidates unable to produce original documents will not be considered for selection.
