As per government orders, an applicant with more than 2 living children, where one child was born on or after 26 January 2001, is not eligible for appointment (with an exception if one child is living and 2 or more children are born in a subsequent single delivery). All required certificates (age and age relaxation proof, education, Home Guard/Ex-servicemen proof, and, where applicable, a Certificate of Identity for transgender persons issued by the District Magistrate) must be held by the candidate as on 6 October 2026 and produced at the time of document verification during the physical test. Persons with disabilities are exempt from applying to the Police Department, as per Home (Police) Department circular No. एफ-2(अ)/541/92/ब(4)/दो dated 4 April 1995. The Police Department, and not MPESB, verifies candidates' certificates during the recruitment process; eligibility in the computer-based online exam is therefore provisional until document verification. All applicants must have live registration at a Madhya Pradesh State Employment Office. Candidates who are not permanent domicile residents of Madhya Pradesh may apply only under the Unreserved (Open) category and are not eligible for any reservation or age relaxation benefit; their maximum age as on 6 October 2026 must not exceed 33 years. MP Police Constable (GD) Reservation Details As per the Madhya Pradesh Public Service (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1994, vertical reservation applicable to the advertised posts is: Unreserved (UR) 27%, Other Backward Class (OBC) 27%, Scheduled Caste (SC) 16%, Scheduled Tribe (ST) 20%, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 10%. Horizontal reservation includes: Women 35% (counted only against posts where women can be appointed, i.e. not applicable to the Special Armed Force cadre), Ex-servicemen 10%, and Home Guard soldiers 15% (applicable only to the Constable (GD) cadre recruitment, as per Home Department memo No. 556/128/96/ब-2/दो dated 31 January 1996).

Selection is conducted in two stages: Stage 1 – Written Online Examination (conducted by MPESB): An objective-type (MCQ) computer-based exam in Hindi/English, of 100 marks and 2 hours' duration, with 100 questions. One mark is awarded for each correct answer; there is no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions. The paper covers: General Knowledge & Reasoning (40 marks), Intellectual Ability & Mental Aptitude (30 marks), and Science & Simple Arithmetic (30 marks), at a difficulty level equivalent to Class 8 of the MP Secondary Education Board. Stage 2 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Document Verification (conducted by the Police Department): Based on the written exam cut-off percentile for each vertical category, candidates numbering up to 7 times the advertised vacancies in that category are called for the PET. The PET consists of an 800-metre race, long jump, and shot put, carrying a maximum of 100 marks (40 for the race, 30 each for long jump and shot put). Candidates must score a minimum of 30% (30 out of 100) in the PET to qualify. The shot put weight is 7.26 kg for men and 4.00 kg for women. One attempt is given for the 800m race, and three attempts each for long jump and shot put. Relaxed physical standards apply for Home Guard and Ex-servicemen candidates. The complete PET scoring charts (marks corresponding to each timing/distance) are published in the official notification. The final merit list is prepared by combining the written exam score (normalised using MPESB's prescribed Normalised Equi-Percentile/T-score methodology, since the exam is held in multiple shifts) with the PET marks, for candidates who meet the minimum qualifying PET marks. Document/certificate verification of all original certificates is mandatory at the PET stage; a candidate found ineligible at this stage will not be selected even if successful in both the written exam and PET. No relaxation is given in physical measurement standards at any stage. Medical standards checked by the District Medical Board include height, chest expansion (male candidates), visual acuity (not less than 6/9 in the better eye and 6/12 in the other eye without glasses, with normal colour vision), and the absence of knock-knee, flat feet, or any physical deformity.
