SalaryHome Guards (Grih Rakshak) are voluntary members of the Jharkhand Home Guard Vahini and are not entitled to a regular salary. They are paid allowances at the rate determined by the Government of Jharkhand for the number of working days on which they are deployed on duty as per requirement. This is not a salaried government job or a means of regular livelihood. The number of days of deployment and the applicable allowance rate are determined by the organisational requirement and the Home Department of Jharkhand Government from time to time. Candidates must clearly understand this voluntary nature of service before applying.

Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must fulfil all the prescribed eligibility conditions before applying for Jharkhand Home Guard Ramgarh Recruitment 2026. The eligibility criteria include domicile, age, educational qualification, physical standards, and technical proficiency (for Urban Technical candidates). Domicile (Aawasiya): For Rural Home Guards - the applicant must be a permanent resident of the block of Ramgarh district from which they are applying. An online residential certificate issued by the competent authority of the State Government must be attached as a self-attested photocopy. For Urban Home Guards - the applicant must be a general resident of the urban area of Ramgarh district, supported by an online residential certificate issued by the competent authority. Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026): Minimum 19 years and Maximum 40 years. Self-attested photocopy of the date of birth certificate issued by the competent authority must be attached. Educational Qualification: For Rural Home Guards - minimum Class 7th Pass. For Urban Home Guards - minimum Matriculation (Class 10th) Pass. Self-attested photocopy of the educational certificate issued by the competent authority must be attached. Physical Standards (same for both Rural and Urban candidates): Measurement Category Standard Height (Lambai) - Male General / OBC / BC 162 cm SC / ST 157 cm Female (all categories) All categories 148 cm Chest (Seena) - Male only General / OBC / BC 79 cm SC / ST 76 cm Technical Proficiency (only for Urban Technical Home Guard candidates): The applicant must be skilled in various technical fields and should be working/self-employed in a related office/establishment with technical knowledge. The following occupations are generally considered technically qualified - Doctor, Engineer, Advocate, Teacher, Nurse, Computer Operator, Typist, Licensed Driver (HMV/LMV), Cook, Carpenter, Cobbler, Washerman, Barber, Electrician, Gardner, Plumber, etc. Self-attested photocopy of the proof certificate issued by the competent authority must be attached.

Selection Process

The selection process for Jharkhand Home Guard Ramgarh Recruitment 2026 is based on the guidelines of the Home Department, Jharkhand Government, Ranchi vide Notification No. 5442 dated 20.10.2014. The selection consists of a Physical Test, a Hindi Writing Ability Test, and a Technical Proficiency Test (for Urban Technical candidates only). After all tests are completed, a merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in all the tests combined, and selection will be made against the available vacancies. Selected candidates will be required to undergo medical examination and police character verification. After being found medically fit and cleared in character verification, selected candidates will be given basic Home Guard training at Headquarters, Jharkhand Home Guard Vahini, Ranchi. On successful completion of training, they will be enrolled as Home Guards and issued an enrollment certificate as per provisions. (क) Physical Test (Sharirik Janch Pariksha): Consists of 1 Mile Run, High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. For Rural Home Guards, writing ability will be assessed at the level of Class 7, and for Urban Home Guards at the level of Class 10. This is a qualifying test. Maximum marks: 100; Pass marks: 30. Technical Proficiency Test (only for Urban Technical candidates): Candidates who pass the Physical Test and Hindi Writing Ability Test will appear in the Technical Proficiency Test. This is also a qualifying test. Maximum marks: 100; Pass marks: 30. Sports Bonus Marks: Candidates who have been awarded at the National or State level in sports competitions will be given additional bonus marks as follows: Position National Level State Level First 6 marks 3 marks Second 4 marks 2 marks Third 2 marks 1 mark Bonus Marks for Government Servants: Government servants are eligible for enrollment as Urban Home Guards up to 10% of total Urban vacancies. They will be given bonus marks based on educational qualification as follows: Post-Graduate - 10 marks, Graduate - 8 marks, Intermediate - 6 marks, Matriculation - 4 marks.
