Eligibility / Qualification
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the cut-off date 01-08-2025. Indian citizenship is mandatory. Male, Female and Third Gender candidates can apply. The benefit of any reservation (including 35% women reservation) is admissible only to original residents (Mool Niwasi) of Bihar State. Candidates from other states belonging to reserved categories will be treated as Unreserved/General candidates. Educational Qualification Qualification Details Minimum Qualification Intermediate (10+2) passed or equivalent from a recognized board/institution, as on 01-08-2025. Written Exam Level The written examination will be of Matriculation (10th) or equivalent standard as per Bihar School Examination Board.
Application Fee
Candidates applying for the post of Havildar Instructor are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee as specified below. The fee must be paid online through the BPSSC application portal via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI. Bank charges for using Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking will be borne by the candidates. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Applications for which fee has been charged back by the bank will be rejected and legal action may also be taken. Selection Process
The selection process for BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 consists of 2 (two) successive stages - a Written Competitive Examination of 100 marks (MCQ/Objective type, 2 hours) and a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of 100 marks. The written examination is only qualifying for the PET; the final merit list will be based solely on marks obtained in the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates scoring less than 30% marks in the written examination will be disqualified from the Physical Efficiency Test. Based on written exam marks, candidates equal to 5 (five) times the number of vacancies for each reservation category will be shortlisted for PET. The appointing authority for selected candidates is the Commandant, Bihar Home Guard, Patna. Stage 1 - Written Competitive Examination Paper Subjects Type Total Questions Total Marks Duration Single Paper Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science (History, Geography, Civics, Economics), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany), General Knowledge & Current Affairs Objective (MCQ / OMR-based) 100 100 2 Hours Each correct answer carries 1 mark. If examination is held in multiple sessions/shifts, normalized marks will be calculated using Equi-Percentile Method. Stage 2 - Physical Efficiency Test (PET) - Total 100 Marks Physical Efficiency Test standards and process are the same as those prescribed for the post of Constable in Bihar Police. PET consists of three events - Running, Shot Put, and High Jump. Candidates must qualify each event separately. Only 3 chances are given for Shot Put and High Jump.
