Any Graduate, B.Tech/B.E, MBBS, Diploma, ITI, 12TH

For General / OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates, the application fee is ₹500 per application. For OBC (Non‑Creamy Layer) / SC / ST candidates, the application fee is ₹250. PwD (Persons with Disabilities / Divyang) candidates are exempted from payment of any application fee. The fee must be paid online through debit card, credit card, net banking or other options available on the SMC payment gateway during the application window from 01 April 2026 (11:00 AM) to 15 April 2026 (11:00 PM), and the fee is non‑refundable in all cases.

Shortlisting for test/interview: Based on eligibility and criteria fixed by SMC for each cadre, candidates are shortlisted for the next stage, which may include a written test, skill test and/or interview depending on the post. Written examination / skill test: For technical and specialist posts (Engineers, Town Planning, Food Safety Officer, X‑Ray Technician etc.), SMC can conduct a written exam and/or practical/skill test to assess subject knowledge and job-related skills. Interview (for selected cadres): Certain higher or specialist posts may also have an interview/viva‑voce round in addition to the written test, as decided by the corporation. Preparation of merit list and waiting list: A merit list (and waiting list) is prepared based on marks obtained in the written/skill test and interview (if held), following reservation rules and post-wise weightage notified by SMC. Document verification and final appointment: Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original certificates, and appointments are issued from the approved list/waiting list subject to successful verification and medical fitness where applicable.
